Honey Jones-Hughes is a Welsh artist based in Rotterdam, NL. She works in a range of media including documentary video, conversations, interviews, workshops and text – allowing collections of these things to curate together snapshots into lives, cities, or social groups at particular moments in time. Her work manifests as an exploration of place-making through micro-archives of interactions, asking those around her to question where they are, and how they live here?
Since 2020 she has been collaborating with Antonio de la Hera on the project BUURTIJS, which concerns the making and sharing of ice cream, using the produce available within a cycle-able distance from Rotterdam’s city centre. The project studied the ethical and environmental impacts of our culinary decisions, with a focus on geographically mapping local producers and sharing their stories through an online archive.
